Wamuran is a rural township below Mount Mee, about 50 km north-west of Brisbane. It's the centre of a fruit-growing district known for strawberries and pineapples. The Caboolture–Kilcoy railway brought growers here from 1909, and the line finally closed in 1996. New housing began in the 1980s, including an area east of the town. Neighbouring Moodlu and Rocksberg are small rural localities with a few hundred residents each.
Rural and small-acreage homes
Most properties are rural or small acreage. Common jobs include freestanding gable patios, verandahs around farmhouses, and carports big enough for farm vehicles. On the newer housing east of town, an attached insulated patio is the usual brief.
Do I need approval for a patio in Wamuran?
In Council's Rural zone, outbuildings are set back 6 m from the road and 4.5 m from side and rear boundaries, and there's no maximum roofed area. Rural residential lots have smaller setbacks (1.5–2 m side and rear) and site-cover caps. Treed land can be in the Bushfire hazard overlay, and land near creeks has riparian setbacks of 20–50 m from top of bank. Check My Property Look Up for your lot.

Farm-country heat
Wamuran has no BoM temperature record of its own. For a large entertaining area, a 100 mm or thicker panel is a common choice inland; see our inland roof notes for regional station comparisons.
What does a patio cost in Wamuran?
In the Rural zone there's no maximum roofed area, so carport and shed-style patio sizes are set by budget and setbacks. Big spans need engineered footings; tell the certifier whether a machinery carport serves the house or a rural use.
Published Brisbane-area ranges put an insulated-panel patio roof at about $350–$750 per m² installed. Cost guide · Estimate yours →
Wamuran patio questions
Is a big machinery carport treated as a domestic outbuilding?
If it is ancillary to the house, yes. Council's outbuilding rules then apply. If it serves an approved rural use (like cropping), it is assessed differently. Tell the certifier how it will be used.
What insulated panel thickness suits Wamuran summers?
Inland summers favour thicker panels. 100 mm or more is a common choice for a large entertaining area, though 75 mm still performs far better than single-skin steel. Thicker panels also span further, which can mean fewer beams.
