Dayboro sits on Terrors Creek just above its junction with the North Pine River. It was Hamilton, then Terrors Creek, and became Dayboro in 1917. It grew on sugar, then maize, dairying and timber, with a branch railway from 1920 to 1955. In recent decades it has become a popular rural-residential choice for tree-changers. North of the town, Mount Mee rises to 498 m on the D'Aguilar Range, with eucalypt forest, patches of rainforest and hoop pine plantations.
Acreage, slopes and views
Dayboro combines its historic township with rural-residential acreage on the surrounding hills; Mount Mee is a small rural town and locality. On sloping acreage a patio often needs taller posts on engineered footings, and a gable roof frames a view well. Verandahs suit farmhouse-style and high-set homes. A big carport is a common second job.
Do I need approval for a patio in Dayboro?
Three overlays come up often in this area. If your lot is in the Scenic amenity – regionally significant (Hills) overlay, Council's rules for class 10a structures say the structure must sit below the ridgeline, follow the contours, avoid batters or retaining over 1 m, and use listed colours with reflectivity under 35%. That last rule matters for your roof colour. In the landslide hazard area (slope over 15%), earthworks and retaining are tightly limited. And treed lots are often in the Bushfire hazard overlay, which brings vegetation separation (20 m or a BAL of 29 or less) and siting rules. My Property Look Up shows all three.

Range-country exposure
On ridgeline-adjacent and elevated lots, wind exposure and western sun matter more than salt. No BoM station covers Dayboro's temperatures; for regional comparisons see our inland roof notes.
What does a patio cost in Dayboro?
Slope is the main cost driver: taller posts, engineered pier footings and sometimes a deck. Scenic amenity colour limits rarely add cost but can narrow panel choices, so confirm the colour before ordering.
Published Brisbane-area ranges put an insulated-panel patio roof at about $350–$750 per m² installed. Cost guide · Estimate yours →
Dayboro patio questions
Can I choose any roof colour for a patio in Dayboro?
Not if your lot is in Council's Scenic amenity (Hills) overlay: structures must use colours listed in the relevant codes with reflectivity under 35%. Darker, matt colours are generally the safe choice, but confirm with your certifier before ordering.
Does a sloping block make a patio much dearer?
Usually somewhat. Taller posts, engineered pier footings and sometimes a deck under the roof add cost. Avoiding large cut and fill also keeps you clear of Council's landslide hazard triggers.
